IMPORTANT NEWS! Professional Women of Williamson County (PWOW) Community Outreach Projects The PwoW Board has approved moving forward with a quarterly Community Outreach project to help members engage in helping Williamson County non-profits organizations in a meaningful manner - funding, in-kind materials and volunteering. Beginning this month, PWoW is asking its members to nominate organizations and events to be considered for approval and action by PWoW. Applications will be posted on the website and available at each meeting. Nominations will be accepted until July 31, 2009 for the first project to be completed October 2009. We hope that every member will be motivated to get involved as we strive to assist those that need it most in our communities! The PWOW Outreach Project on April 14 will be to assist in the construction of a Habitat for Humanity of W. C. home in Georgetown.
The Brown family - a single mother with two children; an 8-year-old son and a 9-year-old daughter - will purchase their home at 1726 Candee Street after its completion. Currently, Ms. Brown works two jobs in order to make ends meet. She will complete her bachelor's degree in education soon and hopes to secure a job as a teacher and coach. The family is very excited to have a home in Georgetown and will be investing 300 hours of what Habitat refers to as "sweat equity" to help build their home.
