Professional Women of Williamson County Annual Scholarships
Professional Women of Williamson County will annually award several scholarships to deserving women in Williamson County. The amount of scholarships awarded is dependent on several factors including the number of memberships in PWoW and donations from local businesses.
Our goal for 2013 is to award $7,000 - $8,000 in traditional and non-traditional scholarships. The traditional scholarship(s) will be awarded to Williamson County female high school student(s) entering their first year of college. The non-traditional scholarship(s) will be for women in Williamson County pursuing a professional education or state certification.
The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of:
- A typed 750–1,000 word essay on what leadership means to them, how the applicant would develop leadership skills in the particular education opportunity they wish to pursue, and how would such skills and education opportunity contribute to the betterment of their communities.
- Prior academic performance and/or work history
The PWOW Scholarship Committee, along with members of the PWOW Board of Directors, will review the applications and select the scholarship winners. The scholarship recipients will be contacted in early April and awarded during the annual PWOW Scholarship Luncheon on the 3rd Wednesday in April each year.
Scholarships are typically $1,000 in value and are for tuition, books and supplies. Checks will be made payable to the school of attendance. The recipient will forfeit the scholarship if it is not used by December 31 of the year of the award.
