Encouragement Breakout Room Featured Speaker

April Patterson

April possesses a diverse background in the entertainment industry. She has over 15 years of experience as an actor, producer, acting teacher, and consultant for child actors and their parents. She is not only an artist, a creator, a businesswoman, a mother, a wife, and an arts advocate—she is also a Tae Kwon Do instructor with a 2nd Dan Black Belt.

In 2014, after managing her children’s acting careers for a combined 15 years, during which she gained valuable experience acquiring agents, negotiating contracts, and booking jobs for them, she pursued acting herself. Since then, she has established herself as a serious actor in theater, films, television, and commercials. She brings depth, a wide range of emotions, and a commanding presence to every role she plays.

In managing her children’s thriving acting careers, she quickly gained a reputation for being a fierce advocate for child actors. While working as a children’s acting coach at the Carol Hickey Acting Studio in Austin, TX, she created a consulting company to help young actors enter the business.

Now, after completing the Brain-Based & Solution-Focused Coach Certification Program from the BrainFirst Training Institute, she is poised to take her consulting business to a new level. She offers neuroscience-based counseling to provide child actors and their parents with the best possible practices and processes to maintain a healthy mental foundation in what can be a very stressful industry. She is dedicated to ensuring parents know how to help their children maintain positive self-esteem, healthy boundaries, and sound mental health while navigating their blossoming acting careers.

She created Alise Aaron Entertainment in 2020 to produce content with compelling stories. As a producer, April and her team are committed to diversity and inclusion and strive to provide jobs and connections for filmmakers and talent alike.

When April isn't teaching, coaching, training in the craft of acting, or producing stellar content, she is teaching Tae Kwon Do as a 2nd Dan Black Belt with the PKC Karate system in Austin. She is Bill Wallace Superfoot certified. Yes, this mama can fight!

April's passion for the arts is reflected in her desire to cultivate the arts in her community by serving as a board member for The Alchemy Theatre, an innovative theatre company that believes in the transformative power of theatre, and Inversion a collection of vocal ensembles dedicated to commissioning and performing choral works composed by living composers. On both boards, April is active in community outreach—sharing her love of music and theatre with students in at-risk communities who often haven’t had exposure to the arts.
