Professional Women of Williamson County Annual Scholarships
Application deadline is March 20, 2019 (Post-marked)
Professional Women of Williamson County annually awards at least 1 -$500 -$1,000 traditional scholarship and at least 1-$1,000 non-traditional scholarship. The traditional scholarship is awarded to a Williamson County female high school student entering her first year of college or a state certification program. The non-traditional scholarship is awarded to a female resident of Williamson County pursuing a professional degree program or a state certification program. The amount of scholarships awarded is dependent on several factors including the number of memberships in PWoW and donations from local businesses. In 2018 we awarded $7,000 and our goal for 2019 is to award $7,000 in traditional and non-traditional scholarships.
The scholarships are awarded on the basis of:
- In order to better understand your educational goals and how this scholarship might help you achieve them, write a 750 to 1,000 word essay on leadership—why you think your life experiences so far have allowed you to exercise leadership first hand, and in light of those experiences of leadership, how your future educational pursuits will enhance your leadership skills and talents so as to serve the needs of our local and global communities through your chosen field of study. As part of your essay, tell us what skills, entrepreneurial endeavors or technology you have utilized to exercise and expand your skills as a team leader, and how the next step in your education will assist you in further developing those skills.
- Two reference Letters. They can be from education, employment or community service contacts. These letters must be postmarked by the deadline for this scholarship.
- Sealed official high school transcript and, if applicable, college transcript
- Resume/CV with academic achievements, work history, extra-curricular activities and community involvement
The PWOW Scholarship Committee, along with members of the PWOW Board of Directors, will review the application packets and select the scholarship winners. The scholarship recipients will be notified by email or phone and the award will be given during the annual PWOW Scholarship Luncheon on the 3rd Wednesday in April each year.
Scholarships are typically $500 – $1,000 in value and are for tuition, books, and supplies. Checks will be made payable to the school/program of attendance. The recipient will forfeit the scholarship if it is not used by December 31 of the year of the award.
